TOWN1EY KILLED IN FRANCE{Continued frrnu pags onerSeptember and received his wings and rating of staff sergeant in December, 1842. .Lieutenant Townley was transferred to Camp Gordon, Ga., for further training with the Fourth Motorized division. He entered officer candidate school at Fort Si!!, Okla., in April, 1943, graduating with the rank of second lieutenant in field artillery July 28. 1943. Then he was sent to Camp Cook, Calif., for further training with, the Sixth Armored division.He was sent to England in February, 1944, and while there was promoted to first lieutenant. Hewas transferred to France In July, 1944.The last letter written to his family was dated July 27, 1944, from a foxhole in France, Tire Rev. Air. Townley is pastor of the Point Pleasant Presbyterian church. Be- ! sides his parents. Lieutenant Town- j icy has brother. Pvt. Samuel Joseph Townley. stationed In the. Philippines, and two sister Miss; Phyllis Townley and Mrs. James Daren Wagg. whose husband was killed in action several weeks ago.While at C, of E., Lieutenant Townley was a member of the Quill .and Forum clubs. C. of E. Players, i Phi Mu, Glee club and Messiah i chorus.The Rev. and Mrs. John Townley and Mrs. Wagg are nli graduates of the College of Emporia, Joe Townley and Daren Wagg were students at the College before entering theArmy.ยป
