Synod deplores Watergate, urges amnesty for Vietnam war dodgersthe laws of the United States, and called onId SENECA FAI.1.S, N.Y. iAP -*n Resolutions deploring the Watergate a scandal and calling for amnesty for le Vietnam War dbdgers have been passed by :e delegates of the New York Synod of the United Presbyterian Church, is In their final day Friday of the four-day 116th annual meeting, being held on the campus of Eisenhower College, the delegates unanimously approved the Watergate resolution, which expressed ' deep concern over recent revelations signifying moral deterioration and abuse of a powerThose revelations included illegal contributions to last year’s campaign to re-e elect the President, harassment of citizens suspected of being opposed to President Nixon's policies, deception of the American people, obstruction of justice and use of campaign funds to invade civil liberties, the resolution said The resolution said Christians, in grappling with these revelations, should: —Examine themselves and their lives in the light of their religion and look at this i scandal not simply as spectators, critics or 1 defenders but as people who bear responsibility for conditions which permitted these evils.—Express love and compassion for all those involved in this deplorable situation.” —Encourage Congress to disclose the facts by fair and legal means and follow them with action to make government more open and accountable.—Ask God to help bring good out of evil. The amnesty resolution, which, in its final draft, passed 51 to 43. urged amnesty for all those whose opposition to the war in Indochina brought them into conflict withthe Congress and President Nixon to grant amnesty as a means of reconciliation among all segments of our country.Man missing in boating accidentHENDERSON HARBOR.
