DELPHI PRISONER OF WARIS DEAD.Mrs. Lucy Baer, of Delphi, received word from the navy department last Saturday that her son, Robert William Baer, USN, whof was held prisoner by the Japanese for more than two years, is now officially declared dead. It develops that Baer was being transferred from a prison camp on the Philippine Islands in October, 1944, when the Japanese troop ship on which' he was traveling was torpedoes off the coast of China. No word hadbeen received of him for eight months. Besides his mother, he is survived by a father, John Baer, of Fort Wayne, and two brothers, Harry, of Delphi, and Raymond, U. S. navy, Bethesda, Md.-v-Miss Betty Jo Lane, Indianapolis, was the week-end guest of her parents, Atty. and Mrs. Wilbur Lane, at Bringhurst.Mr. and Mrs. Nola Finney went to Monticello Tuesday for a few days’ visit with their daughter, Mrs. R. L. Hawkinson and family.
