The Webb City union is No. 1 and the Joplin chapter is to be No 2. A local to be known as No. 3 was formed at Chitwood a few days ago. At a meeting to be held in Oronogo tonight Chapter No. 4 will be organized, according to plans announced today.Are Not Affiliated.S. E. Graves of W'ebb City, president and organiser of the union, which is not affiliated with any other branches of organized labor, declared today that the purpose of the union was to embrace every miner in the district on Its rolls.“We will be so strong that the operators will have to listen to our demands,” he said. “They will have lo pay the standard wages or there •will be no work done.”A standard scale of wages, which the miners are demanding follows: Machine men, $4.75; machine helpers, $4.25; pump men, $4.25; powder men, $5.50; powder helper,$5; ground boss, $6.50; superintendent. $7.60. The scale for nhovel-ers Is varied and dependent upon the ground.This scale is based upon $80 a ton for zinc ore.
