I got here Tuesday andwas ordered to move to Tampa with the lGih infantry. We got packed and ready to move when we had orders to remain here several days.Well, I like the place very well. We | drill three hours a day,—two in the! News- morning and one in the afternoon. Roll is called at 5.30 a. m. and at 4 p. m. We eat at G, 12 and G. Our drill hours are from 10 to 11 and from 2 S3 p. m. For breakfast we have coffee, baceu and bread; for dinner, hardtack, roast, slum and coffee; for supper, slum, bread and coffee and more salt and pepper than anything else, but wo get enough to eat. We Lave all kiDds of people here at the Fort. We sent about 300 “coons and 700 whites to Tampa yesterday. They shipped about 100 from Tampa here for the hospital. They have the fever, but it don't scare me. I am anxious to move; so are tbe rest of the Ferry ; county boys. AinoDg us is N. Mason, A. Hemphill, John Batt, John Richey, V. Tiery and myself. We are all well but Hemphill. He’s on the sick list,but will be all O. K. in a day or so.He’s able to be out but too sick to drill.I went to the guard-house yesterday to see the Spaniards.
