Cas Baran Missing:sJ 'Was at CherbourgA veteran of the Polish Air Force when it was a part of the R.A.F. and more recently of the United States Army Air Force, Lt. Casimir Baran was reported missing in an air engagement over Cherbourg, his mother learned last Thursday. She is Mrs.mFrances Baran, of 740 east 155th st.Lt. Baran, a Thorntonite of the class of 1041 and member lt;f thefootball squad his junior and senioryears, is 22 years of age. His grade school education was at St. John the Baptist school. Members of the church’s congregation at all masses last Sunday said prayers for his safety.The telegram which Mrs. Baranreceived from the War Department stated that her son was lost in thelast engagement over France. Apparently he had taken part in tin* invasion air attacks.Casimir was an officer in the Polish unit and received his equal rank in the American forces when he transferred to it. Friends told the writer that he had been sent toTexas for a time as instructor.He- has three brothers in the service. Stanislaus, Anthony, and Romuald, as well as a young brother and a sister.Casimir was born in' Phoenix onOct. 22. 1M22. During his high school course he stood in the upper fourth of his class.
