The Sunday papers containeda report of a skirmish on the Cagayan river, in the island ofMindanao, Philippines, June 13th, in which 9 Americans soldiers were killed and 12 wounded,all members of the 40th U. S. Vols. Of the wounded,two, Mur-ley Phillips and John W. Smith, Co. H, are believed to be Bedford boys. If so Phillips’smame is wrong, as it is Turley. Both are reported as severely wounded.
