Added Facilities NeededIFor Defense AciiviiesFn., June 28, 1963 The Daily Jeffersonian Page 9-BCambridge, OhioMany additional facilities have been required at the local1 RCA plant to meet the needs of the defense electronics business. New offices and production areas, engineering offices and laboratories, to name only a few, have required the attention of the local Plant Engineering group to formulate plans to construct these facilities.H. M. Newton, manager, i Plant Engineering, at the local RCA facility along with his staff of engineering, maintenance, and clerical personnel have been responsible for revamping nearly the entire interior of the local plant since the Surface Communications Division acquired the local facility from the Home Instruments Division when the latter relocated the production from Cambridge to ; Indianapolis, Indiana, at the close of 1960. Mr. Newton transferred from a Camden i plant in 1960 and resides with his family at 1102 Rochester Avenue. The task to design a high re liability manufacturing area for production for a portion of the Minuteman Missile communica\tion system rated top priority to get production started early in 1961. Several additions have been made to this “white room,” and it is now believed to be the largest facility of its kind in the world.Another project of top priority was planning for the layout of Engineering laboratories, offices and the appropriating for funds required to equip the Product Engineering operation that was located here at the time the local facility became a part of RCA’s Defense Electronic Products. Still another, as a result of the Minuteman Missile contract being assigned to the local facility, was the plan for a Project Management | office area and an ultra-modern control room. This room is equipped with the latest projection cameras and sound equipment to hold meetings for reviewing the progress of the Minuteman contract and other projects assigned to the local j plant. In the manufacturing area, assembly conveyor lines had to be replaced with unit assembly benches. Parts fabricating equipment used to produce record changer parts, television components, and other related metal parts for the Home Instruments Dept, was replaced with new and specialized equipment for the manufacture ofmilitary communications com-1 ponent parts fabricated at the local plant. An entirely new’ layout had to be made for the many supporting service groups such as the Receiving and Shipping, Incoming Inspection, and storage areas. The very latest in decor was used to construct a new reception room where each visitor to the plant is greeted by a receptionistCONGRATULATIONSTo All Our Friends AtRCAON THEIR TENTH ANNIVERSARY!\Ve’re Happy ToServe You At The __ 709 Wheeling Ave.TALK ABOUT PROGRESS!
