Festivities To Include TourVisitors at the RCA “open house” Saturday at the Cambridge Plant will enter through the same door that has carried thousands of persons across the threshold of the factory.Many previous visitors have been job seekers, many have been representatives of the I mtnl St at os Armed Forces, and numerous others have called at the plant on various other business mattersLeaving the beautifully-paneled reception area, the Saturday visitors will move into the plant Purchasing Department where they will be told of the wide variety of items that must be purchased to carry out op-erations here Hiese range from very simple items to very elaborate components and highly-specialized test equipment MmThe next stop will be the Personnel Department which is responsible for employment activities at the Cambridge facil-itj 1 -it.ms will he shown the distribution of employment for the plant. Here they will also become acquainted with the systems and procedures activity which is responsible for establishing procedures under which the plant operates.Progressing past the plant dfcpenaary, the tear group vffl then enter the Data Processing area where electronic data processing equipment is used to compile a wide variety of reports in addition to the large number of payroll checks required to reimburse personnel fi thtfti m i \leaa etch vwkPlant visitors will then view the sequence assembly for *he micro-wave ground radio communications (AN-GRC- jO). They will next pass through the Parts Fabrication area where racks and drawers that house the printed cktvk boards for the communications equipment are assembled While in this section of the plant, the group will view a display of items produced at other defense electronics products locations.A special treat for the visitors will be an opportunity to view themselves on television by means of a closed circuit ar rangement A TV camera will be located near a monitor so that persons may walk in front of the camera and see themselves simultaneously.As the tour enters the Manufacturing Assembly area, many components of the Polaris submarine intercommunications system will be demonstrated.Nttt OB tfco agenda will be the Product Fngineering activity where exhibits will feature the latest techniques that have been developd for application to the new communications product- and which are expect ed to go into production at the Cambridge plant in the years to come. One display will show what the human voice looks like on an oscilloscope on which it is converted from sound into visible wave lengths.The tour will then continue through the Manufacturing Assembly area where the portable combat radio (AN-PRC-25) is manufactured for the Signal Corps Two of these radios will he used to carry on a conversation between employes in two separate points in the display area in order to demonstrate their useA trip through the white room locker area will then give the visitors an opportunity to see the various sequences of the assembly of the components used for the sensitive command network for the Minuteman missile ground communications system Visitors will actually pass through the air showers used by employes each day while entering and leaving this work area.After leaving the white room, the group will pass by the Electronics Data Processing Center where the new RCA-301 data processing equipment will soon be located A photograph of this equipment will be shown since the computer will not arrive at the local plant for a few more weeks.The entire M inuteman system will be displayed, along with the finished product the Cambridge plant produces, showing how this product fits into thr **iitire Minuteman mis sile complexVisiting groups will then pass by the Manufacturing office areas and through the Material Operations storage section. Also in this area will lie the plant shipping, receiving, and Purchase Material and Inspec tion (PMI) activities.At the conclusion of the con ducted tour, visitors will take time out for refreshment' bi fore departing from the RCA plantEmployes Top Goal for BondsEmployes of the RCA Cam bridge Plant responded well to the corporate U. S.
