! it. James S. Dearth Awarded Air Medal In Pacific TheaterLieutenant James S. Dearth, USNK, native of Unianlown, and a resident of Dunbar, R. D, 1, has been awarded the Air Medal for distinguished service in aerial flight as division leader of a fighting squadron while engaged in a bombing and strafing attack against Jap aircraft on Neg:os Island.Presentation of the award was made by Rear Admits! V. IT, Ragsdale, USN, at a West Coast Naval Air Station where Lieutenant Dearth is now stationed with a fighter squadron.According to the citation, Lieutenant Dearth pressed home his strafing attacks and personally destroyed two enemy bombers while assisting in the destruction of 21 more,A graduate of Dunbar Township High School, Lieutenant Dearth attended Washington and Jefferson University before enter:*g the Navy.
