HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF: Prospective recruits at the new recruiting office of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, in the McIntyre building on Main st., saw souvenirs prized by the Rifles. The unit is 57 years old, one of the oldest in Canada. Above, Lieut. P. A. Brooks, acting officer commanding the headquarters company and in charge of the mew office, is standing beside the regiment's Batoche drum, an Indian war drum captured by the Rifles in 1885 during the Riel Rebellion. He is holding a sniping rifle used by Paddy Riel, nephew of Louis, when he served with the unit, then the 8th Battalion, in the Great War. On the table is a rifle used at the Battle of Batoche, 1885.
