Tiro Nebraska pilots citedBrig. Gen. Dean C. Strother of Winfield. Kas., congratulates 1st Lt. Delton C. Goerkc of Syracuse, Neb., after pinning silver stars on him and 1st Lt. Douglas S. Canning of Wa.vne, Neb., at a south Pacific base recently. Lt. Gen. Millard F. llarmon, commanding army forces in that area, had awarded silver stars to the pair for their gallantry in action over the Solomons. They were two of five fighter pilots protecting bombers in an attack on an enemy harbor. The flight was intercepted by about 30 enemy planes and despite the great odds, Lieutenants Goerke and Canning and other escort pilots fought so courageously that not one of the enemy was ableto reach the bombers., , v -i drivers may use gasoline
