AirlineDoubles'66 TotalWorld Airways of Oakland has been awarded a 'fixed” or **minhnum guarantee” contract by the Military AirliftCommand for payment of $25,648,869 for charter flights during the fiscal year beginning July 1.This compares with the “fixed” or “minimum guarantee” contract for the previous fiscal year of $12,841,402.Edward J. Daly, presidentof the company, said that in •addition to the “fixed” contract flights, a MAC contract carrier such as World is awarded additional trips under the expansion provisions of the contract in accordance with the requirements of the military.The contract covers flights for military personnel and cargo between Travis Air Force Base and the Far East utilizing the company’s Boeing 707 jetliners.Under the expansion provisions of the new contract, the company was awarded an additional $3.9 million for the operation ofmilitary flights within the Orient utilizing the company’s six Boeing 727C’s during August and September this year. It is expected that this operation will continue for the balance of the 1967-68 fiscal yeanWorld Airways, the world’s largest charter airline, currently operates six Boeing 707 intercontinental fan jet s. Three additional 707’s will be added to the fleet this year plus the six Boeing 727C’s.The company will also take delivery of three 747’s in early 1971, with an option for a fourth, and holds delivery po-sition on three supersonic transports (SST’s).
