Suicide by a Soldier.—A soldier at our garrison, who had enlisted at New York re* ccntly, calling himself Charles David, but whose .real , name \sas Lewis* LAFosTAiNE, committed suicide at his quarters cn Saturday evening last, at, about 9 o’clock. The weapon used' was a common pocket-knife, wiitrtlbe large blado of which he stubbed himself twicei one thrust penetrating the heart, and the other resulting in a flesh wound. He died in fifteen minutes softer receiving the in* jury, Coroner Smith held an inquest upon the body, and a verdict of suicide was rendered.
