Harold Piper of Minot. North Dakota American Legion commander, Wednesday accepted an appointment as coordinator of aircraft warning service on the state defense council.Piper was appointed in advance of the announcement of other council members because the federal government is interested in setting up immediately a network of enemy aircraft | spotters across the nation the govern* j or's office reported.Harold PiperPiper will be in charge of this state’s aircraft warning service and he will work In conjunction with the civil protection committee of the state defense council.The nation has been divided into four interceptor command areas and North Dakota is in area two, comprising eleven northwest states with headquarters in Spokane, Wash.Volunteer aircraft spotters will be trained for outside observation duty as well as for inside filter and information centers.
