Three new teachers hired for KalonaWELLMAN — Three new teachers have been hired for the 1973-74 school year at Mid-Prairie Junior High School. A brief resume of each teacher follows:Susan Anderson, 1973 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa majoring in junior high education, has been hired to teach four sections of math and two sections of science. Susan is from Washington, Iowa, and did her student teaching at Taft Junior High in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.Susan was active in many campus organizations including Purple Arrow, Kappa Mu Epsilon, the Student ISEA, and the UNI Junior High Education Association.Sam Cox, a 1973 graduate of Parsons College, has been hired to teach six sections of mathematics. Sam is from Fairfield, and did his student teaching at the Junior High in Washington.Sam has worked as a tutor in the math department at Parsons for three years. He was a student assistant for the summer Introductory Math course. He is a member of Chi Beta Phi, and was active in college band, marching band, and jazz ensemble. He is an active member of the 34th Army Band of the Iowa National Guard.John Wilson, a 1971 graduate of Culver-Stockton College, Canton, Mo., has been hired to teach art.For the past two years, John has worked with the Media Development Center project of the Gifted Student Section for the Illinois Department of Public Instruction. During this period he served as a consultant in art at workshops and institutes throughout Illinois. John has done much work in photography as it relates to art. John is from Carthage, 111., married and has one child. These three teachers are replacing: Dr. James Broos, who will teach at Central College, S.C.; Barbara MacGregor, whose husband is entering medical school; and Edna Smith who is retiring after 14 years in Mid-Prairie and 21 years of teaching.
