OFT KOREA ■£—A Colorado airman snd two others from the USS Pliillppin** Sea were r€*cu®(J by Souih Korean fishermen Monday night when They ditched their plane approximately 25 miles oil tha Korean east coast.An Air Force crash boat took them oft the fishing boat and transferred them to the heavy cruiser St. Paul.Li. Robert Kuehler and two crewmen were on patrol with eight • other planes and heading for a landing In South Korea.The St. Paul got word by radio that Kuehler* plane wag low on gas.Kuehler dropped below the fog for a wator landing. He sighted a South Korean fishing boat and guided hU plane close to the craft before dropplas into the water.Kuehler and his crewmen. G. N. Alkire. airman. USX, and J. J, Franklin, aviation ilectroulcBinan, second class, USX. were soon out of the plane. Kuehler kept one man afloat until they were ail rescued.Within 10 mlnutea. a South Korean hottt was alongside.Kuehler is from New Braucfeli, Tex., and Franklin from Eureka, Calif.Alklre le t son of Mr. and Mrs* G.
