During the visit of the King and Queen to Vancouver Island, the lads acted on escort duty on the trip from the mainland. Those arriving In Drumheller for the two-week holiday are: Ronnie Sterling, leading seaman (East Coulee); John Rogers, able seaman (Enst Coulee): John Lawrence, Donald Mc-Asklll. John McCue. John Evans and Jack Poole (Poole la a Saskatchewan lad and Is spending part of his furlough with John Evans). Albert Jones, another local boy, will not ar-• • rlve here for another two weeks onhis leave.Since the boys were home for Christmas they have travelled a great deal. They have visited the West Indies, Jamaica. Bermuda. San Pedro, San Diego, Cannl Zone and Balboa. They had also made trips to Los Angeles.A coincidence in the arrival of Ronnie Sterling, who drove here in his own car, was the fact that ho passed his mother on the highway between here and Calgary without # knowing It. Mrs. Sterling, who has been very ill for several months, was being conveyed to Banff by Wm. Rounds, for a convalescence period. Mr. Rounds converted one of his taxis into an ambulance for the trip by removing a seat to allow stretcher accommodation. Mrs. John Blalr, of East Coulee, accompanied Mrs. Sterling on the trip. Ronnie only stayed In the valley a couple of days and then drove back to Banff to be neac bis mother.
