r.pi •nI.ri.!Opportunity For Naval Training ToldThe Las Vegas Naval Reserve pointed out to Clark County youths this week that there are 46 avenues to officer candidacy in the Navy through the local Reserve organizations.Educational consultantJ. Myron Partridge said that the more immediate opportunities include high school sopho-omore, junior and senior Naval reservists who wish to qualifv for the United States Naval Academy without a senatorial or a congressional appointment, high school and college Naval reservists desiring to enter college NROTC and high school and college Naval reservists aspiring to become reserve officer candidates at colleges of their choices.iNaval reservists may chose a regular or a contract objective at the Academy. Choices within NROTC include scholarship, regular and contract appointments. Partridge placed special emphasis on the Reserve Officer Candidate (ROC) program due to its availability at the Nevada Southern campus.Commander I rederick Hooks, commanding officer of the local Naval Reserve Training Center, noted that many young men learn of such opportunities, but delay obtaining accurate information until it is too late to take advantage of short cuts and counseling services offered rc | by local Naval Reserve or-; ganizations.
