Scotch GroveAsusual in Scotch Grove, there were many former residents who “came home0 for the services of Memorial day. The weather and roads were both good. E. E, Heed delivered the address which was commented on by many as one of the best to have been given on such an occasion. Mr. Reed spoke with considerable effort, having an infection of the throat which made talking very difficult, but he persisted in spite of this handicap. Among those who came from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Warner and daughters Olive and Loueda, also Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Davidson and Miss Pauline Gearhart, all of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Blanche Hoyt and her son Benson from Iowa City; Mr, and Mrs. Will Johnson and Mrs. H. Livingstone of Hopkinton; Mrs. L. E. Black and daughter, Miss Nella Davis, of Castle Grove; Mrs. Anna French of Harlan, Ky.; Mr. and Mrs. Herson Fadley of Onslow; Mrs. Duncan Drelbelbis and daughter Myrtle, Mrs. Rodman, Mrs. Dora Brucks, Mrs. C. B. McKean, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Rathbun and daughter Alta, Mrs. Lanie Green and two children Alice and Robert, Raymond and Charles Eby, and the Misses Hazel and Evelyn Eby, and Mr. and Mrs. George Moats, all of Monti-cello. Center Junction also sent a goodly number who make it an established custom to attend Memorial day in Scotch Grove for many years.
