• \8 to Leave for1;VGuard TrainingEight members of the NationalGuard Battery stationed in Iron-wood, who are graduating fromarea high schools this week, willleave Saturday morning for six months of active duty under the National Guard’s training program.Included in the group are- Privates Daniel L. Adams, 640 Margaret St., Iron wood; Pvt. Ralph D. Christensen, Route 1, Box 61, Bessemer; Dennis G. Eifolla, 207 Wilson St., Ironwood; Kenneth M. Kin-nunen, Route 1, Box 254, Iron-wood; Arthur L. Lyons, 1815 Wool-sey St., Bessemer; David A. Johnson, Route 1, Box 236 Bessemer; Gary B. Ovaska, 332 E. Houk St., Ironwood, and Dan L. Waurio, Route 1, Box 250, Ironwood.They will leave here by train Saturday and are expected to arrive at Ft. Knox, Ky., Sunday. They will have approximately eight weeks of basic training at Ft. Knox and then after a two-weeks furlough *they will go to Ft. Sill, Okla., for the completion of their training.It is expected that they will complete their training about Dec. 7.Officers of the local battery report that other youths graduating from area high schools can still take part in the training program by enlisting in the Guard. They said those who sign up how probably will leave for basic training later in the month. At the present time the battery has openings for about 12 men.
