The high school board called the election after representatives of nearly 50 organizations of the city pledged to support such an increase on the face of figures which show that the school cannot possibly maintain an accredited standing unless an increase is voted.The high school board has received a definite warning that beyond June 30. 1941 unlessthere is the necessary financial support for the school, the school will not continue to be accredited by Committee oti Admission from Secondary schools.Based on information obtained from the Board of Education, the following facts appear:Not wanting to assume responsibility by itself, the Board of Education sent letters toevery organization in the District, which list included grade school boards of education, service clubs, religious organizations, civic groups, etc. The proulem was presented to them at a meeting in the high school building, with the statement that the Board of Education would abide by their recommendations, whatever they might be. The group unanimously recommend-Will LeaveBlue IslandIn 16 DaysThe June call for Selective Service District 14 (Blue Island) is 76 men. The largest previous call from this area was for 45 men made in April.Walter Gaboriault, secretary of the local board, says that there are enough A-l men classified on hand to fill the call.The list will be published as soon as it is made available. The Blue Island call is even greater than that of Chicago Heights where 61 are being summoned.The 76 Blue Islanders will leave for the army on June 21. They will be sent first to the induction center at the 132nd Infantry armory.When Judge Minor found four youths guilty Thursday on charges preferred by Blue Island police as the result of a series of larcenies and purse snatch-ings a new record for the quick clean-up of a local case was established. The boys had been arrested on May 13—only 16days previously.In that time they had gone through preliminary hearing, questioning, binding over to grand jury, indictment, arraignment and trial.Sentence was deferred until Saturday to allow the entire record of the hoys to be placedbefore the judge. Attorneys for the boys are asking probation.Captain William Hankey testified for the Blue Island policedepartment and his testimonywas sup% by four victims of the a Ibjed crimes.The boy*convicted were: Harold Sueehif* 17. 2842 Union .Riverdale and Lansi police were added last we to the ever growing list villages where police rat apparatus is connected two-way radio to the powlt; ful station at the Hon wood county police.Lieut.
