He came to Salt Lake soon after the United States' entry into the t war and enlisted at the local navy recruiting office In the regular service as a cook. He was immediately transported to the naval training a tat ion at San Francisco. A friend, Bert Hardy, whom he gave as a reference when, enlisting here, rcsidco, at Vernal, Utah.
