ELKS IN SURROUNDING TOWNS WILL BE INVITED TO TAKE PABT IN EXERCISES HERE ON JUNE FOURTEENTH*The Elka at their meeting Wednesday night, made further arrangements for the Flag Day celebration to be held here on Flag Day, Wednesday, June 14. Committees of the order are now actively at work in an effort to make the Flag Day celebrationone of the largest that has ever been held in this city.Postal cards will bo sent to thelodges in other cities of the district!inviting the members to send delegations here for the celebration. Word has already been received from Con-nersville, Rushville and Greensburg that there will be several hundred men present from each of those places. Many Elks who are business men willbe here to attend the celebration in the afternoon and the meeting of the business men at night. The merchants of the district have a good roadsmeeting scheduled for Shelbyville on! the evening of Flag Day.| There was a committee appointed Wednesday night to ask all business men of the city to close their storesand offices daring the afternoon. Manyof the atom of the city have already signified their intention of closingAll merchants will be asked to decorate their stores in the national colors1 of red, white and blue on Flag DayThe residents of the city are ae asked to display Old Olory on Jun* 14, and to take an active part in the Flag Day observances.The Shelbyville Branch of the Woman’s Franchise League has announced that it will be represented in the parade by a large float, displaying some important event in the history of suffrage in this country. The Council of Clubs and the Daughters of the American Revolution will have floats in the parade.The parade committee has about completed its plans for the mammoth procession, which is expected veclipse anything of the kind that wasever held in Shelbyville. The old soldiers will be invited to attend and inarch in the parade. Three hand:: and a drum corps will be in the line. The city officials, county officials, members of the police and fire departments will he asked to march in theparade.Flag Day will he made a great holiday In Shelbyville.
