Although theday was a most beautiful one. just the right kind of a day for the farmers to spend in tilling the SI* Ids, yet they ceased from their labors, came to town and paid ^tribute to the nation s dead. The procession to the cemetery was nearly half a mile long, and at the cemetery the usual services of the G. A. R- were he'd in a solemn and touching manner. The afternoon exercises were held In the Hobbs opera house, but so great was the crowd that only about half or two-tlifts of the people could get Into the opera house to listen to the excellent program, consisting of music, short talks, singing, recitations, etc. Miss Bess F. Gearhartof University Place rendered several selections that were received with great p~Union memorial services were held at the Chirstian church Sunday morning atII o'clock, the address being delivered by President Ay ies worth of Corner university. The church was filled to its utmost capacity listen -t® one of the finest mom©rial addresses ever delivered here. In the evening the Ep worth league delivered a patriotic program in the M. E. church, whose pastor has enlisted, to another immense crowd, many not being able to find seats. The church was beautifully decorated with bunting and fiugs and the finest patriotic program ever given in Elmwood was rendered. Miss Bess F.
