Killed 2; wounded 25; missing 2; total 27. 'Total killed, wounded, and missing 207.This does not include many men slightly wounded who remain with the regiment on duty. Many of the missing are supposed to be killed. The beautiful banner presented us by the ladies of Indianapolis but a few weeks since, is torn to pieces w ith shot and shell, but you may tell them that in the storming of the enemy’s w orks on the 12th iust j by Hancock's corps it was the first to wave over the captured fortifications.— 'The loss in other Indiana regiments has j also been heavy. Wc had the pleasure of fighting side* by side with the gallant 14 th, once or twice so far. 'They fight as Uoosiers always do.The battle still continues, and we cannot as yet see the end. It would | see in that the enemy cannot much longer | hold out against such terrible blows as he has received lately. God grant that with all this terrible bloodshed, suffering j and death, may come salvation and peace i to our beloved country.Sincerely vonr friend,Gkoge W. Mikee.Lieut. Col. Com. 20th Ind. V. V.
