Hinton Drummond, a brother of Mrs. Bert Ash. of Spirit Lake and Mrs. Harry Wolcott of Montgomery, a former resident of the Spirit Lake com-h munity, is presumably a prisoner t of war in the Philippines. The war department recently notified Mrs. Drummond, who resides at 1605 N. Sycamore Ave. in Hollywood that he is missing in action inBataan, and they are unable to give further information to her until they receive the list of prisoners.Hinton was a doctor in the Army ■ ] Medical Corps previous to the 1 * war, and bafore being sent to the ] Philippines early in 1941, was sent from Washington ; to .the Mayo ■(Clinic in Rochester for _ special ,training. He was promoted' to the • rank of Lieutenant Colonel byGeneral MacArthur for special efficiency. _Two other relatives of the local women are in army service. Their ; brother-in-law Edwin Swanson who taught in the local school in past1 years, and whose wife is' remem-, bered as Miss Olive Drummond, is a Captain in the Army, and is sta-,■ tioned at a defense post in Keo-' kuk, Iowa. The Swanson’s son-in-law, Capt. Burton C. Thomson, the husband of Olive Swanson was also in the Philippines and has been reported missing in. . action. Mrs. Thomson is living in Chicago.
