A copy of the paper means a lot to me when I rear! the names of Woodward. Tyler, Foreman. Hankinson, Dicks, Butler, Moseley, Harley, Green. Glover et al. I also .saw General Hampton, Dr. Timmerman and Jesse Foreman. On the same day myself, Jack Hankinson and Capt. Whatley met on a corner when I spoke and asked, •‘Do you know me Captain? He smiled while he remarked pleasantly, “I would know your ashes.” In our Company we had two yankees. three Irishmen and three Jew Ml the rest were South Carolinians, one hundred dips deep, dying in the wool I azi writing from memory. I knew every man in our Company Old Co.C. got slt; overwhelmingly large fromrecruits that came in from time *o time until we had to divide up and form another Company and electedA P Brown Captain. While we were doing picket duty on the coast near Charleston beforeWhen told the Jack riding proposition he became enthused and said:Where is ver Jack? He mounted and faced ab directed, got a hold in the long hair on the Jack s back, and sang out Ready!** And then the show opened. The Jack made a lunge, Miles held his seal. The Southern yell i followed. That got the Jack's dander up, and he reared almost straight up. That threw Miles off balance. The Jack then reversed himself so Quick he left Miles three feet up in the air. Miles still came down astride, but fearfully near the business end of the Jack. The Jack then madea powerful effort and threw Mileshigh up in space. Miles reversed, came down on his 4iead considerablyin the rear of the Jack and was kicked over A whoop went up from 09WJ throat.
