Such was the case Thursday when a report was received that Marine Pfc. Antonio Salinas had been fatally wounded in combat withthe Sriet j|onIn reading the letter he. had written to a friend here only a few days before his death, the young Marine exhibited quiet bravery,pride in his outfit and calm assuredness that a difficult job that had to be done, would be done.Pfc. Salinas, a 1966 graduate of Douglas High School, was keenly aware that he was involved in a deadly business. Nevertheless, he expressed confidence that the Viet Cong could and would be defeated.Fhis young man's approach to the warcontrasts sharply with so many other views that are being offered these days. Marines and soldiers like Pfc. Salinas a^e the ones who will win the war in Vietnam, if it is to be won, not the many detractors of our effort there.Pfc. was a brave Marine who served his country to the fullest. Our community canbe proud of him.
