Isiside Dope On , Army Athletics Told By WindleWhile home on a short furlough. Corporal Bill Windle gave us a little dope about army athletics —outside of drills and caiestbenics.Right now, baseball is the top sport at the Jefferson barracks post at St. Louis, with each of the 12 squadrons having a team for inter-squad games. The post also has a team which has many former major and minor league players in the lineup. This team travels to other camps as well as having home games. At the present time, there are only four squads left in the semifinal tourney play with the 28th, of which Windle is a member, still fighting it out for the camp championship.Football will come imto its own next week with daily practice sessions. At the present time, three former members of the Chicago Bears and other professional teams are scheduled to play.A basketball team will be organised later with both inter-squad and inter-post play with nearby army and navy bases.
