BAD BOYSCame to Town and Peeped at the Elephant.Had a Gay and Giddy Time and Landed in the Station House.One of Them Said to Be a Man of Some Means—Cynthia Pearce and Damsels in Police Court.The police made a raid on the dis reputable house managed by the notorious Cynthia Pearce this morning about one o’clock.There have been numerous com plaints about this place. [It is considered one of the lowest in town and the marshal decided to try and break it up. Accordingly the first raid was made this morning. It resulted in the capture of the landlady, Cynthia Peacrc, and four girls, who gave the names of Louisa Smith, Blanche Clark, Agnes Moore and Nellie Bussell. Two men, who gave the names of Jake Brown and John Edwards, were also captured.Tiie names given by the men were fictitious. “Brown’s” real name is said to be Martin, and he lives up the Scioto valley. His father recently died and left him considerable money. When searched he was found to have a check for four or five hundred dollars on bis person'and a small sum in cash. He also had a revolver and a gold watch. He was fined 82 and costs for frequenting a house of ill-fame aud 81 and costs for carrying concealed weapons. He explained having the revolver by stating that he brought some money to town to put in the bank and^brought the gun along for protection.“John Edwards” was fined 82 and costs for visiting a house of ill-fame. His partner paid his fine.Cynthia Pearce was fined 82 anti costs for keeping a disreputable house and each of the damsels got 81 and costs' each. They paid up.
