JThe Sarurdav show will be one of the largest mass formations displayed in anv nation since the closeof World War II and will include more than TOO military aircraft, ’passing in review for President Truman. Col. Selser said. In the mass demonstration will be jet-propelled Lockheed F-80 Shooting Stars. Republic F-84 Thunderjets and light bombers, fighters and the Super-forts.Col. William E. Eubank, jr.. commanding officer of the 43rd bomb group, and Col. Dalene E. Bailey, commanding officer of the second bomb group, will lead the B-29s from Davis-Monthan field.Routine FlightThe flight of the Superforts has been classified as a routine navigation and cruise control mission and is in line with the regular training program for heavy bombardmentcrews of the strategic air command. The principle function of the SACis to fly to and operate from air-bases throughout the world.The Tucson Superforts will leaveDavis-Monthan Friday morning. Thesecond group will fly to McDill air force base. Florida, for refueling and staging. The 43rd group will fly to Carswell air force base at Ft. Worth, Tex., for the same pur*i pose. Later they will form tactical group formations and pass in review over Xew York City, returning to Tucson late Saturday or earlySunday. The display wiil require a total of 23 hours of flying time for each crew during the roundtrip.
