WAPELLO WOMAN S RELIEF CORPS SURPRISE COMRADE P. RICHLEYWapello, July 24—The members of the Women's Relief Corps planned and carried out a most successful surprise on Comrade Philip Richley last Saturday, it being his eighty-' sixth birthday anniversary. Mr.! Richley makes his home with his daughter, Mrs. Theo. Wilton, and it was at this pleasant home tthat the event was held. Sixteen members of A. M. Taylor post, of which the hon-1 ores has been a member for 29 years, sere in attendance and their presence was greatly appreciated by Comrade Richley, as failing health and loss of eye sight deprives him of many pleasures he once enjoyed. Post Commander W. C. Saunders gave a splendid talk and presented Mr. Richley with $5.00 In gold, the gift of M-. Joiner Davison. Messrs. H. Gam of Grandview, and Dan McKay, both of whom were in the game company and regiment with Mr Rietolsy, spoke of their association j together in the sixties, each claim-1 ing he owed his life to Mr. Richley, who was ward nurse in the general hospital at Prairie Grove, where both lay seriously wounded and weregiven the best of carfe by him. Comrade Murray, In his usual able man-' ner, presented Mr. Richley with $10 as a token of esteem from members of the post. Mr.Ricbley respondedto these talks and gifts very feelingly. Mrs. Rex Nyemaster og Muscatine. a granddaughter of ComradeRichley, took pictures of the comrades. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served by the ladies.Among the comrades present were four of Mr. Richley’s company and regiment, Co. G, 19tb Iowa: Dan McKay. Herman Gast. Henry Pike, Jake Teets; also Comrades W. C. Saund-•rs, Tal Wilson. A. C. Bond, J. L. Murray, J. S. Kelly, Dan Graham. Will Freeland Sinoa Houtz. Isaiah Gripple and John Stingle of Grandview.
