City Soldier's Parents Told of War DeathJAMES DEVNEYThe parents of an Eau Claire soldier, who left here for war duty in Vietnam June 28, were notified this morning he had been killed in action 011 July19.An officer from the I S. Army Reserve here told Mr and Mrs. Francis Devney, 712Hobart St., that their son, r.F.C. James R. Devney, 20.1 was killed near Da Nang. He earlier had been reported missing in action.The family has one other son.Served in GermanyDevney had attended Northj High School and enlisted o 11 Dec. 21, 1907 He served at Ft Campbell, Ky„ received a lt;1vanced infantry training at Ft Ord, Calif , and was sent toWest Germany.After arriving in Eau ClaireJune 16 on furlough, he left forFt.
