Several of them ere In a hospital. One of the band-inen got too close to a shell and sustained a broken toe, another was hit in the back and slightly wounded by shrapnel. Hereafter no military band in France will be put up close to the firing line. Heretofore the bandmen had to act as stretcher bearers in tha thick of battle.
