U.S. Sues TexasFirm In SaleOf Old PlanesTwo Of Craft Sold To Uruguay Once On Display In MinnesotaWASHINGTON (AP) — Two military fighter planes, once on exhibit in Minnesota as relics ofWorld War II, arc involve in agovernment action against a Texas firm to recover $19,500.The Minnesota planes were at Austin and Marshall.T h c government allieslt; obeli Industries Inc., Fort Horth, Texas, Illegally obtained 13 surplus planes from schools and publir organza-tlons. The government saysmost of the planes were overhauled and sold to the Fru-guayan Navy In 1950.The government petition alleges that Cobell induced eligible institutions to transfer to its custody 13 surplus aircraft and converted some to its own use for I flight purposes. The governor val-' ued the planes at $1,500 each at the time they were turned over to the 13 organzations for memorial or instruction I purposesonly.At Marshall, Mayor Oeorgc Ab-rahamsen said a Hellcat fighter plane was put on exhibition at the airport in 1945 and that the Ce*beU firm acquired it m 1949 with a nominal payment of $1involved.Abrnhamsen said he was un-aM# to check details of the transfer immediately.
