'fAuxiliary GroupSponsors ContestV. F. W. Auxiliary Notes The Ladies Auxiliary of V. F. W. held its regular meeting Monday evening, July 19, in the V. F. W. hall.The meeting was called to order by the president, Dorothy Herron Community Service chairman, Olive Johnson, reported that four boys leaving for induction into the armed forces were served coffee and cookies. Cigarettes, candy bars and gum were passed out by £he Post Coffee and cookies were also served to friends and families i of the boys. This service has been rendered to all inductees leaving from this center for the past three years. A letter of recognition was read from the State Selective Service System, written by Col. R, A. Lancaster, thanking the V. F. W. Post and Auxiliary for this service.A citation was presented to Mrs. Hazel Paulson from the National Commander-in-Chief, Wayne Rich ards, for her part in this fine project.It was voted by the Auxiliary to sponsor the Essay Contest this year. The title of which is, “What Civil Defense Means To Me”. The prizes for the local contest will be: first prize, $25.00; second. $10.00; and third. $5.00. More information will appear m a later issue of the Bntt News-Tribune.Members were asked to write to their congressman concerning the passage of Bill H. R. 9020 nowpending action.The Auxiliary voted to sponsor a float in the Hobo Day parade.Mrs. Otto Jacobson was elected a delegate to the National 3En-|{ campment which will bo held inn Philadelphia. August 1 to (5. j j A galloping breakfast will be held at Mrs. Dorothy Herron's on.. Friday a. m.. July 2‘t.
