Saturday, July 21, 1743ISy SGT. JOHNNY FRYERAND DO YOU REMEMBER OLD so and so? This was the burden of our conversation with 1st Lt. Ralph O’Keefe when he found that he is an alumnus of the Yale Theater—our old stamping ground. The lieutenant has added himself to the ranks of those grand people who volunteers to assist in the production of Sheppard Field radio programs. After his day’s tour of duty as our field’s clothing and equipage classification officer, he has burnt much midnight oil lately in the preparation of radio scripts and the outlining of broadcasts to which he has also contributed his services as an announcer. When we first joined him in these sessions it was difficult to keep on the subject. Characters like old ‘Pop Groswold, the guardian of the Yale Theater’s stage door, kept jumping into our memories. Pop always knew more about your activities than you did yourself, and read your postcards aloud to you before handing them over. Whathe couldn’t have done with a column!NOW FOR SOME ACTION! S. Sgt. George Allan, NCO-in-charge of our Ml”s criminal investigation department, has' assigned Pfc. Leslie Nance to the task of finding KII.ROY. Quick. Watson—the salt tablets!THIS KII-ROY BUSINESS gets more and more mysterious. Wehave just received an air mail letter written on USO stationery and postmarked Wichita Falls. It is signed KII.ROY and reads, Theanswer is No! Absolutely No!'PVT. RONALD FISH of Squadron T” writes that he has thereal dope on KILROY. He claims that the elusive character is a former Army Ground Forces man who reached Greenville, S. C\, a couple of months ago via Camp Robinson, Ark.then, in a shipboard newspaper of lust month called The Rag we find the following: Latest news of the world is now flashed to ship’s passengers every afternoon at o’clock by KILROY, unmasked as Sgt. Ed Neibling, formerly announcer for Sheppard Field, Texas, radio shows ... We would have known you, Ed! Greetings, wherever you are!
