Behrer of Spruce Cheek who entered the Navy on August IB, 1944 and had his boot training at Sampson, New York. In October he enjoyed a short leave at his home tttiile enrnute to Key West Florida where he attended Sonar School. After his training at Key West he.was sent to sea on an A. P. D. ship and served at Saipan. Guam, the Marianas Island and Eniwetok. After the battle of Okinawa he received a bronze star. While his ship was being repaired, John was home on a ten day leave.
