Mrs. J. J. Dolan and her daughter, Mrs. R. A. Beacom and infant daughter, Ricky, are here from Beresford visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. 8. Henrich. Mrs. Marie Kuhl returned Friday from a 10-day visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clar ence Groff of Pocahontas. Wed nesday she left for Watertown, S.D., to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Everett Ruhl Mrs. G. A. Lieb of Sioux City came Wednesday to spend a few days with her mother, Mrs. Mary Sauer. Miss Fanice Haag left last week for Omaha to continue her work at St. Joseph’s hos pital after a vacation visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Haag. She graduated in May from the nurses training course and has two more months of duty at the hospital. Mrs. Cyril Douma arrived here last Tuesday from Hamp ton, Va., where Lt. Douma was stationed at Langley Field, but has now left for overseas duty. Little Tommy has been here for two months with his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Douma. Mrs. Orville Cambier left Wednesday for Cherokee where she will reside for the dura tion. Lt. Cambier returned to Shreveport, La., Saturday for his new orders. On Sunday, Mrs. Ray Van Wechel and children who have also been guests of Mrs. J. C. Cambier and the Richard Cambier fam ily left for their home in Vin ton. Mrs. M. D. Gibbs and Mrs. Mildred Dunkelberg leave to day for Chicago to spend a few days with George Gibbs before going to Oxford, Ohio, to wit ness the graduation of their granddaughter and daughter, Marion Dunkelberg, S2C from the Naval radio school at Ox ford. The 5-month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Accurso, Linden doe, was taken io Friday and underwent an operation at the Le Mars hospital, where the little fellow’s appendix was re moved. He is doing fine and is returning home this week. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Lieb and family were callers Sunday morning at the home of Mrs. Mary Sauer. They were en route to Sioux Center where they were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Duistermars. Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Van Dam are expected here this week” to visit with Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Klein and other Alton friends. A former painter here, Mr. Van Dam has prospered in the dairy business at Hynes, Calif. They are coming to Iowa from Colo rado where they attended the wedding of their daughter. Mr. and Mrs. John P. Beer spent the weekend in Rock Valley to visit with Mrs. John Dierksen of Sioux Falls who is spending a week with her parents after a minor opera tion.. Mrs. Boer remained for the week. S/Sst. Dierksen is stationed at the Sioux Falls Army Air Base. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bloemen daal, Pvt. Lawrence and Ken seth recently enjoyed a pleas ant visit with Lt. Col. and Mrs. M. ©. Larson, who are now at Abilene, Texas. Col. Larson was recently transferred from Camp Bowie and is at Camp Barkeley where the Bloemen daals have been with their son and brother since they left here May 22nd. They expect to return home the last of this week and will stop at Camp ‘Fannin to visit with Pvt. John Van Zanten Jr. of Orange City. ‘The weather has been very hot in Texas, up to 107 degrees one day, according to their re port, but the nights are always cool.
