Murphy Gets Commission In U.S. ArmyMOUNT HOLLY - Jerome A. Murphy, son of .Mrs, Willie J. Murphy and the late Leroy Murphy, received his commission as second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and is now stationed at Fort Gordon, Ga.A graduate of AT College in Greensboro, he was the recipient of an award for being the best military student of his class at graduation exercises. He was a member of Beta Kappa Gri Honorary Society.On Awards Day, he was cited as the outstanding senior in mathematics and as one who had been on the dean's list since entering college.
