Joplin has the largest and most modern cigar factory in the state.The Leon S. Boucher Cigar Company was established in 1904 in a small way, only four people being employed at the beginning. As the products of this concern became known, their popularity demanded larger production; several moves were made into larger quarters until today the building occupied by the factory is the largest, most modern and most conveniently appointed of any cigar factory in the state. ,Over 200 people are employed in the manufacture of Flor de Leon Cigars. This brand ismade in eight up-to-date sizes ranging in price from the “Junior” size, which retails at fivecents, to the “King” size, retailing at fifteen cents.They also manufacture the Boucher’s Havana Special and Boucher’s Hand-Made brands. These two brands are very popular as 2 for 15c cigars, and have; not only been among the best sellers in this district but are going in the eastern territories arid in the larger cities.
