0*rHOOP TRAIN COMING HERE LIST NIGHTHandcar Wedged Into the Rails and Spiked down—Engineer f\ as Cautious and Saw Obstruction in Time.A. A. Georges, a traveling man who arrived at the Hotel Bryan on the 12:20 tram this morning, stated that the train, which was about 15 minutes late, barely missed being wrecked a short distance this side of Navasota. The train, which was carrying several car loads of white troops, was moving rather slowly at the time, when the engineer noticed an obstruction on the track. He brought the train to a standstill and investigated to find that a handcar had been jammed between the rails and spiked down with the very evident purpose of wrecking the train. It required considerable effort to remove the car but with a surplus of muscular energy and proper tools j it was soon accomplished. The surmise is that the handcar was placed on the track for the deliberate purpose cf wrecking the train and destroying as many soldiers as pos j sihle
