OFFICERS WILL GQ?Reserve Officers in R.O.T.C. Expect Discharges by September 30.It Is expected that all reserve officers on duty with the R.O.T.C. unit at the University will be discharged by September 30* In addition, the regular army officers will be demoted to their former rank.The following reserve officers are attached to the R.O.T.C. unit here: Maj. R. G. Barkalow, MaJ. M. C. Jackson, Capt. W. O. Hill, Capt. William K. McClure, Capt. M. S. Creusere, Capt. C. S. Thompson. First Lieut. M. J. Phelan and First Lieut. J. A. McCammon.Those in the regular service are Lieut.-Col. W. E. Persons, captain in h.he regulars, and Lieut.-Col. Lloyd Jones, captain in the regulars.It is expected that regular army officers will be sent here to replace the reserve officers now on duty. Nothing will be done however until further instructions are received governing the discharge of the present officers.The following order has been received:“Attention is invited to the following Instructions published by direction of the Secretary' of War. Strict and prompt compliance is enjoined upon all.-officers serving under the jurisdiction of this committee and who may be concerned or affected.Appropriations for the support of the A-my make it necessary that immediate and energetic steps be taken to expediate reduction of commissioned personnel by September 30. 19i9. It will be necessary that a psace time strength of commissioned j personnel as provided by the National , OefenBe Act be reached and that officers of the Regular Army be returned to their pre-war grades.All officers holding commissions only for the emergency including ap- j plicants for permanent appointment | will be discharged on or before that date.”
