vice.YN1 Haselberger saw considerable sea duty on as many vessels as the American Navy had (seven fighting ships) when it came into being on Dec. 22, 1775. At the completion of his tour of active duty, he washonorably discharged in March 1964 and transferred to the Naval Reserve.For the next 10 years he was assigned to Surface Division 5-9 (L) on McKaig’s Hill while holding a civilian job at the Works 7 plant of Pittsburgh Plate Glass until furloughed in 1974. For four years at the local Training Center he was involved in training and administration.His first Achievement Award came while serving as administrative supervisor, instructor, and leading petty officer at the Reserve Center in Staunton, Va. His second such honor came for similar duties at the Williamsport, Pa. center.Following the latter command, he was assigned to duty in the Pentagon with the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations as an administrative coor-dinator-secretariat in the Air Programs Department for three years.Haselberger attended Frost-burg State College for two years (1958 to 1959) after graduating from Fort Hill. He was also employed in the AdvertisingDepartment of the Cumberland Times-News prior to joining theNavy.He is married to the former Catherine L. Dressman of La-Vale. They are the parents of two daughters, Kimbery Marie, who recently graduated with honors from Frostburg State Universty, and Mary Beth, a four-year pharmacy student at Pittsburgh’s Duquesne University where she made the dean’s list.The family resides on Gramlich Road in La Vale.
