Capt. Roy Horton RaisedtotheRankofMajorAnnouncement is made from Montgomery that Capt. Roy Horton, of the Decaturs, has been raised to the rank of major, succeeding Maj. N. S. Walker of the First battalion, Po*%’tb regiment, who was mustered out because of his failure to stand the physical examinations.Capt. Horton formerly held the rank of major in the Alabama national guard, but resigned the honor in order tot give his services to Company E. the local organization. He is rated as one of the best military men In the state, and in the event of war with Mexico is expected here to distinguish himself on the field of battle.Xo announcement of Captain Horton’s successor has been made. Lieutenant Browm is now the ranking officer of the company.
