Two Local Girls Accepted For Service In VVACAnnouncement has been made byCorporal Louise Bvrd, of the local WAC recruiting office, of the acceptance of two local girls for ac-, live service. They are Miss LaVeme Guiher, and Muss Sybil Louise Moore.Miss Guiher is the daughter ofAllen and Mollie Guiher of R. F.D. No. l, DuBois, Pennsylvania. Sheattended the West Liberty Grammar School and then the Sandy High School. She is well knownin DuBois and has been employed as Fountain manager and drug clerk with the Harvey and Carey Drug Store on West Long avenue.She has two brothers in the #er- j vrcc, Pic. Robert A Guiher, who is t serving overseas and Cpl. Allen Guiher, Jr., stationed at Camp Stewart, Georgia. Miss Guiher says that she feels that by enlisting m the Women's Array Corps she will prevent some father of small children from being drafted into service. She eniisted under Army Service Forces and was sworn in the Women's Army Corps on July 10, 1944.Miss Moore is the daughter ofMrs. Sybil Sutter, of 331 E Scribner { avenue, DuBois, Pennsylvania. She attended the grade schools iti Du-m and was graduated from the j DuBois High chool. after which she attended the State Teachers College. at Indiana, then Duke University at Durham. North Carolina. She Is well known in and around DuBois and has been teaching in the Hubert Street School In OuBois for some time.Miss Moore enlisted in the Army Service Forces under general assignment and was sworn in on June22, 1944. Siie has received her orders to report for active duty andleft on the 4.15 train July 12, 1944for Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia In Pittsburgh she will Join a number of other WACs reporting to Fort Oglethorjje for their basic training.Vr• km*- n
