Seven Escape In Plane CrashHOLYOKE, Mass., July 11 (#)— While Investigators were still examining wreckage of a converted Flying Fortress that ploughed into a mountain talking 25 lives, seven other men cheated similar fate by parachuting to safety when a navy plane crashed in nearby Palmer late yesterday.The seven men aboard the two-engined navy R5C—all members of the flight test section lt;f engineering at United Aircraft’s Pratt and Whitr.ey division in East Hartford, Conn.—took to their chutes when the plane, on a test flight, lost !a wing.The second crash occurred within 18 hours of the time that the army B17,'bearing army, navy and coast guard, personnel and. several civilians, smashed into 1,200-foot Mt, Tom, killing. all the occupants. Some ,;yere returning from overseas either for discharge or furloughs. -.
