Perhaps about 1820 he came into Monroe county, Indiana, in 1835 his son William entered a farm of 380 acresabout five miles northwest of Linton, to which he soon came. Nearby Robert and William Ellis helped organize the Samaria church. In this Greene countyhome Robert Ellis lived until in 1840he passed away at the age of 00, and was laid away with the honors due a soldier.Recently the family moved the body from the old cemetery to a grove in the new cemetery, which is part of the Samaria church yard. There has been erected the marker which the United States government and the Sons of the Revolution place so as to* keep in memory these old veterans.More than 600 invitations were sent to descendants and friends of thefamily of Robert Ellis in preparation for this Fourth of July.Four grandchildren of Robert Ellis were present at this reunion. One other grandson is known to be alive, James Ellis of Missouri. The four grandchildren present were, Lee Ellis of Sullivan, Mrs. Laura Stewart, Lincoln, Nebr., Mrs. Katherine Treat, Anadarko, Okla., Mrs. Emma Bare, Jasonville.
