WOUNDS PEOVE FATAL TO LOCAL DRAFT SOLDIERPrivate John Grabowski Left Here With Quota Last September.Frank G. Gualtieri, Who Joined Fighting Ninth, Believed a Prisoner.Private John A. Grabowski of this city is dead irt France and Private Frank G. Gualtieri, also of Syracuse, is reported missing In action. -It is feared that he is dead or ho may be a prisoner. f.Grabowski, 116. was a son of Mr. and Mrs, August Grabowski, sr., of No. 122 Culbert street. He ws wounded on June 2Sd and the dispatch from Adjutant General McCain Monday informed his parents of his ! death. Grabowski left with the September draft quota and was in the Seventh Infantry, and ’ Gualtieri Jn 'the Fighting Ninth. Gualtieri lived fat No. 407 North State street,i; Missing Man Has Many Friends,I When the news that Gualtieri was missing in action in France reached the neighborhood in which his mother lived, the whole colony wept. He was the son of Mrs* Mary Gualtieri, widow with two small children, aged 10 and 6. He enlisted iri the ‘'Fighting Ninth at the State fair grounds about a year ago. Ho was 20 years old.“If he had to dio said his mother. I'm glad it was fighting for America. He was a good boy and 'wanted to enlist long before he did. .When I finally told him to go ahead he joined the army at the fair grounds.The mother sobbed us she spoke. She tried bravely to hide the tears which refused to be concealed.
